Proline regains promotion to the Uganda Premier League

Joseph Mandela and Bright Anukani strikes were all that guided Proline to regain promotion to the Uganda Premier League defeating Kabale Sharp 2-0 on Thursday.

Team captain Mandela put the visitors in a 6th minute lead with a reflex tap in after Bright Anukani’s corner kick was headed in play by Ibrahim Ssendi.

In the 18th minute, intelligent midfielder Anukani doubled the Proline’s lead off a 25-yard free kick after a foul on Bonyo Ibrahim and the visitors bossed with a halftime double lead.

In the second half, Proline made amendments when James Begesa, Hakim Kiwanuka and Emmanuel Asiku came on for Bonyo, Noordin Bunjo, and Ivan Bogere respectively.

Kabale Sharp coached by Vialli Bainomugisha tried to find a consolation but goalkeeper Hassan Matovu was spot on with timely saves.

Proline after the final whistle joined Wakiso Giants as the two teams that gained direct promotion to the Uganda Premier League and will face off in the final to get the Big League champion.

While Kansai Plascon and Dove FC that finished 2nd and 3rd from the Rwenzori group will play Kyetume and UPDF FC in the playoffs to get the third team to be promoted.
