Former Cranes goalkeeper Posnett Omwony has been named Lesotho’s new goalkeepers’ trainer after the Lesotho Football Association sent a letter to his club Bantu FC requesting to allow him to become the Likuena, as Lesotho’s national team is tag named, goalkeeper coach.
Omwony is a Police FC product but also played for SC Villa before heading to South Africa for greener pastures.
He played for the former from 2000 to 2003 and the latter from 2003 to 2005.
Omwony made his Cranes debut in March 2003 against Kenya and amassed over 10 caps.
In South Africa, he played for Bloemfontein Celtics, Vasco Da Gama, Black Leopards, and Roses United before getting a coaching role in Bantu FC where his acumen has been recognized by LeFA.
He is also a younger brother to Vipers goalkeeping coach Moses Oloya.
