Vivo Energy Uganda through its premium brand Shell V-Power has once again announced a sponsorship package worth UGX 110,000,000 towards the organization of the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.
The announcement was made at the launch of the 2019 edition of the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally at Shell Bugoloobi.
Speaking during the unveiling of the sponsorship, Vivo Energy Uganda Managing Director, Gilbert Assi said,

Shell’s commitment to innovation through motorsport is an integral part of the extensive research and development programme with Ferrari provides that is key to making better fuels for our customers.
“Shell’s technical partnership with Ferrari provides an environment to test our Shell V-Power fuels in extreme conditions. This provides us with a better understanding of what will deliver improved power and performance for your car engines, and why the Pearl of Africa Rally trusts Shell V-Power.
In addition to sponsoring the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, Vivo Energy Uganda also sponsors four Ugandan champion drivers, Arthur Blick, and Ronald Ssebuguzi, each with a sponsorship funding of UGX 65,000,000.
Omar Mayanja with 40,000,000 and Umar Kakyama with 5,000,000 making a total sponsorship package of UGX 285,000,000.
The rally will give drivers a chance to experience Shell V-Power – the fuel with the highest octane (RON 95) levels in the market today, giving them the best efficiency and performance.
The Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) president Dusman Okee, said that,
“The contribution from Vivo Energy Uganda will help the event continue to be successful. We thank Vivo Energy Uganda for its continued support towards the motorsport fraternity. As a federation, we are working closely with all stake holders to host another successful event and preparations are already underway. A new better route has been planned for the competition.”
The Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally is one of the eight rounds of the Federation Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA) sanctioned African Rally Championship and will run from 2nd to 3rd August 2019.
It is the fourth event in the African Rally Championship and will have foreign drivers participate.
