Swaziland 3-4 Uganda
Hassifa Nassuna was the hero in Uganda Crested Cranes 3-4 victory against Swaziland on match day one of the COSAFA Women’s Championship at Isaac Wilson Stadium in South Africa on Wednesday afternoon.
The UCU lethal forward stroke a brace in the game to supplement on Norah Alupo and Resty Nanziri strikes in South Africa on Wednesday afternoon however Tenanile Sandiswa, MG Camphalala and Cebile Shongwe pulled back three for Swaziland.
Hardly six minutes into the game than Uganda Christian University striker Hasifa Nassuna opened the scoring with a far post shooting to put Uganda in an early lead.
With half an hour past the game, Norah Alupo doubled the lead for Uganda after a clumsy defending from Swaziland defenders to put the Cranes in a comfort zone with a 2-0 lead leaving Swaziland flirt footed thanks to Zaina Namuleme’s donkey work.
In the one added minute of the first half, Resty Nanziri sealed Uganda’s first half lead with a clear tap in off a Tracy Jones Akiror pass to set Crested Cranes in a 0-3 dominance before the break.
From the break, Tenanile Sandiswa reduced on the deficit by pulling back one after scoring a consolation for Swaziland to make the score 1-3 on an hour mark.
In the 77th minute, MG Camphalala scored the second goal for Swaziland from a long ball off the goalkeeper to pile more pressure on Uganda Crested Cranes who thought business was done and dusted in the first 45 minutes.
Pressure pulled off the Cranes in the 81st minute when danger lady Hasifa Nassuna calmly converted from spot after Kawempe Moslems’ Tracy Jones Akiror was brought down in the box to make it 2-4 and braced the game towards game ending.
In the 89th minute time, Cebile Shongwe looped a long ball which went upbeat custodian Grace Aluka but could not overturn the results after the final whistle.
After the game, two goals scorer Hasifa Nassuna was voted the player of the match and went away with a player of the match accolade.
The results put Uganda Crested Cranes on top of group C with three points while Swaziland went on the bottom line with no point.

Crested Cranes will lock horns with Namibia on Saturday 15th September in the second fixture before playing Zimbabwe on Monday in the final group stage game.
