Fresh from his second professional fight against Tyson Mbikayi, Uganda’s heavyweight boxer Shafiq “Killing Machine” Kiwanuka will get back into the rings on the 29th of November 2019.
Kiwanuka will rumble with Zimbabwe’s Dube Thamsang in the Heavyweight For African Championship fight and the fight will take place at International University of East Africa Auditorium.
During the official launching of Kiwanuka’s third professional fight, Salim Uhuru the Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) assured the public about a great fight sanctioned by the World Boxing Federation.
“As UPBC, we shall ensure that everything during this fight runs in a professional way. We shall follow the regulations as we look forward to a great fight as I confirm that the fight is on and launched officially.”
Ahead of this fight, Kiwanuka previously brought down Congolese Mbikayi in 30 seconds of the first round at the MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo in July.
The International University of East Africa (IUEA) resident Director and rally driver Hassan Alwi also felt pleased and pledged more support to Uganda’s first-raising boxer Kiwanuka in his journey to becoming a world champion.
“I’m really pleased to see that our great fighter Kiwanuka is soon returning in the ring. He is a good fighter and everything is set ahead of his third professional fight. As IUEA, we assure you of a free venue for the fight and we hope to give more support to him in this cause.
It should be noted that IUEA is the main sponsor of fighter Kiwanuka that also gave him a full bursary to study for his entire life.
Uganda heavyweight boxer Shafiq Kiwanuka is confident ahead of his fight against next opponent Dube Thamsang and promised a good fight to his supporters.
“I am mentally and physically fit because I have been feeding and training well. I want to confirm to every Ugandan that the Killing Machine is ready to fight and humble my opponent as it has been in my last two professional fights. Kiwanuka who is under the management of Great Strikers International and trained by an All Africa Gold medalist Abdul Tebazalwa.
Kiwanuka in his last two professional fights defeated Congolese Mbikayi and Kenyan David Kamara respectively.
About his opponent Thamsang, he has 15 professional fights on record registering 12 wins with seven Knockouts(7 KOs) and three defeats.
Before the main fight, there will be seven curtain-raising fights or undercards where Sajabi Ben will take on SGT Muzee Alidina in a rematch.
