On Thursday morning, the Uganda Boxing Federation launched a new campaign dubbed “Get off the Plane” for the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Qualifiers.
The new campaign was officially launched by the Uganda Boxing Federation president Moses Muhangi during a press conference held at Lugogo.
The final elimination fights for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Qualifiers are slated for Sunday 5th January at Lugogo Indoor with a total of 26 fights scheduled to take place at Lugogo.
“We are here to confirm that the final elimination phase for the National Olympic trials is on this Sunday and we have named the campaign as Va Ku Nyonyi.” The campaign is the last one where 13 boxers will stay on the National team and we strongly believe that those who will prevail have a big chance of winning medals.”
Spectators for these elimination fights will have to pay an entrance fee of 5000 and 10,000 for the ordinary and Ringside crowds respectively.
Gates will be open from 12noon and bouts will begin at exactly 2Pm. Ordinary tickets are for 5000k while those who will seat on the ring side will have to pay 10000.
26 fighters will vie for 13 places, with Eight men and five women needed to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympic games qualifiers due to take place in Dakar, Senegal in February 2020
