Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Uganda will once again participate in the annual MTN Kampala Marathon through its brand, Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water.
The company confirmed participation with a cheque of UGX 150 Millions at the Rwenzori Bottling Company Plant premises in Namanve Industrial Area on Friday morning.
Handing over the Company’s contribution to positive social change within the communities in Uganda, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Directors said the company was committed to improving Uganda through its regular business operations and partnering with causes like running for improving maternal health services across the country.
It is a pleasure to be here today as we once again handover our sponsorship package to the MTN Marathon. Our relationship with MTN and this prestigious marathon dates back many years. This is mainly because of the value that we attach to this marathon and to the thousands of Ugandans who have benefited from the causes over the years.
Said CCBA’s Business Development & Commercialisation Director Ms. Flavia Mbabazi.
Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water is an appropriate flagship brand for the MTN Marathon because of its hydrating, refreshing qualities, and it’s acceptance across the country regardless of the faith or culture.
Our heritage in Uganda is not just pegged to being a symbol of refreshing hydration. It also includes decades of humanitarian causes either initiated or sponsored by us. It is therefore natural for Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water to be part of the MTN Kampala Marathon which brings about people from different nationalities.
This year, the sponsorship package will consist of 6000 cartons of Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water and UGX 75 Millions cash bringing the total sponsorship to 150 million shillings.
CCBA Uganda will deploy plastic collection points along the MTN Kampala Marathon route in order to limit the wrongful disposal of used plastic water bottles by the thousands of people who will be participating.
If all Ugandans join hands in limiting environmental damage by collecting plastics for recycling, then we will have an even bigger positive impact in Uganda. The MTN Kampala Marathon is giving us another opportunity to demonstrate this, even as we run together for other causes.
On their part, MTN Ugada’s Senior manager Brand and Communication Mr Sebuliba Martin said,
Our partnership with Rwenzori Nature Mineral Water for the MTN Kampala Marathon stretches many year’s back and we are proud of that togetherness with this reputable brand. This collaboration is further strengthened because we’re growing this event to rival the world’s best and we’re in it for a good reason of raising funds to support the improvement of maternal health in our country.
Last year, the cause provided over 1.3 Billion Ugandan shillings.
This year’s MTN Kampala Marathon will take place next weekend on Sunday 24th November 2019.
