Central African Republic 1-0 Uganda Cranes
Uganda Cranes head coach Sebestian Desabre was left frustrated after his side faced a slim 1-0 defeat from Central African Republic on Wednesday night in Niger.
While addressing the media after the game, Sebastian Desabre credited his side for a better display but was disappointed with a costly mistake
” We played very well unfortunately did not get the result in our favour, It’s very disappointing. I saw my players were generous and showed that they wanted to win. But it was just one mistake that costed us the game”.
Sebastian Desabre made several changes after Mamelodi sundowns goalkeeper Dennis Onyango Masinde started on bench after delaying to hit the camp giving Salim Jamal a start in goal.
Onyango’s assistant captain playing for Egyptian giants El Geish FC Hassan Wasswa Mawanda took over the captain’s arm band to lead the rest of his teammates.
Nevertheless, Uganda Cranes assistant captain Hassan Wasswa Mawanda stays optimistic of a better performance despite the loss and calls for group rectification ahead of their last match on Sunday against Niger.
” We have to regroup and rectify our mistakes as a team before we take on Niger on Saturday. I know, we have the ability to do better. We pressed Central African Republic and they were on the back track most of the time in the match”
Central African Republic now tops the tournament with four points after forcing a three all draw with the hosts Niger on Sunday while Uganda Cranes comes third.
Uganda Cranes face hosts Niger on Saturday, 2nd June 2018 in the second game at the Stade General Seyni Kounteche
