SUPL: KCCA cruise past Express to near championship

KCCA 3-1 Express

KCCA all they need now is a single point in the remaining three games to claim the StarTimes Uganda Premier League crown.

This came after their 3-1 win over Express at the StarTimes Stadium to go nine points clear at the top of the summit.

Goals from Kizza Mustafa, Muzamir Mutyaba and Allan Kyambadde brought the Kasassiro boys closer to the title outshinning John Revita’s first half penalty.

As it happened

Muzamir Mutyaba had the first attempt for KCCA inside the first five minutes but his effort went wide.

Eric Kambale also missed Exrpress’ scoring chance when his one on one attempt was blocked by defender Timothy Awany.

In the 13th minute, KCCA skipper Awany brought down on-rushing Dissan Galiwango in the box and referee Ali Sabira pointed to the spot.

Express defender John Revita stepped up and slotted home sending goalkeeper Charles Lukwago the wrong side.

In the 34th minute, Jackson Nunda released Allan Kyambadde in box but his close range shot was denied by custodian Tony Kyamera.

Four minutes later, Lawrence Bukenya paved way for Sadam Juma and Isaac Mutanga was cautioned after a foul on Kyambadde for a set piece.

Left back Mustafa Kizza curled in a brilliant free kick from the edge of the box that went upbeat goalie Kyamera and hit the post before hitting the back of the net.

In the 61st minute, Mutyaba put the hosts in the lead off a well taken free kick that left shot stopper Kyamera with no chance whatsoever.

Express later made the second change when Pius Mbidde replaced Lawrence Kigonya.

In the 76th minute, Kyambadde stretched their lead beyond the visitors’ reach off his long distance bender that went past helpless Kyamera.
