KCCA holds first leg advantage against Synergy

KCCA FC is on the verge of stepping in the Uganda Cup final after edging Masaka based Synergy FC 0-1 at the Masaka recreation play ground courtesy of Patrick Kaddu lone strike.

Synergy in the 5th minute nearly faced a blow after team’s goalkeeper sustained an injury but no substitute on bench could replace him thanks to the club’s physiotherapists for the tireless work.

In the 22nd minute, Patrick Kaddu put the visitors in the lead from a clear cut finishing of an Eric Senjobe assist that made the score 0-1 with the victors in the lead.

Eleven minutes later, Kalaga Mbido narrowly equalized for the hosts from a close range but was denied by Filbert Obenchan’s world class interception making no change on the score in the first session.

In the 55th minute of the second half, KCCA introduced Steven Serwadda on the pitch for Solomon Okwalinga.

KCCA’s Derrick Nsibambi with donkey work failed to head in a free header which was saved by Synergy’s shot stopper on the front foot.

With an hour past the game, Saddam Juma was withdrawn off the pitch for Isaac Kirabira making a second change for the visitors.

KCCA continued pausing questions to the hosts and team’s anchor man Derrick Nsibambi converted a Steven Serwadda’s well laid pass only to be denied by the offside flag in the 72nd minute.

Synergy in search for a Hail Mary saw Yiga Muhammad in the final minute attempting to bring life back in the game but his efforts were denied by Tom Ikara’s brilliance in goal.

The win motivates KCCA FC over Synergy FC ahead of the return leg at the Star Times stadium in Lugogo come 6th June possessing a vital advantage.
