2019 Airtel Masaza Cup

Bulange group

Buluuli 0-1 Busiro

Dangerous substitute Andrew Kigozi was the difference as Busiro condemned Buluuli 0-1 in the first game of the 2019 Airtel Masaza Cup on Sunday.

Kigozi came from bench in the second half and only needed three minutes to bring a change in the game in favour of the visiting side Busiro.

The first half of the game ended goalless but Busiro was wasteful after missing one clear cut chance that could have handed them a lead before the break.

For starters, Busiro’s winger Ivan Serubiri was cautioned after faking a foul on the edge of the 18-yard box claiming for a free kick.

Towards the recess, striker Gerrard Ogwet came close to scoring but failed to tap in an empty net a well delivered through ball off Sembuusi Razak.

Also, Buluuli forced saves from Busiro custodian Mubiru Nsuemu Farouk who denied Ali Sharif, Obona Steven, and Abdul Aziz.

In the second half, Noah Mugerwa made amendments by bringing on Kigozi and Kalibwami Hamuza for Ivan Mayanja and Ogweti.

In the 81st minute, substitute Kigozi silenced the noisy home crowd odd his superb header on the far post past goalie Mugenyi Michael thanks to Sembuusi perfect delivery.

On the 90th minute mark, Kigozi narrowly doubled the lead after his timely run to meet Ivan Serubiri through ball but he fouled custodian Mugenyi before his finishing.

In the three minutes of added time, Busiro resorted to time-wasting tactics and was solid in defence to deny the hosts an equalising opportunity.

The result took Busiro to three points in the 2nd position tied with leaders Buwekula that defeated Kyadondo 2-1 in the other game.
