Uganda’s dynamic left back based in Kenya Shafik Batambuze and Simba Sports Club striker Emma Okwi were among the best players who made it on the Vodacom Premier League best eleven.
Shafik Batambuze who trades his talent in the Tanzania’s top flight league giants Singida United FC as a left back has had an overwhelming season playing game after game in his debut season one after joining departing from Kenya’s Tusker Premier League.
In an exclusive interview with Sports Fan Magazine, Shafik Batambuze was delighted for the recognition and bases his success on talent and hard work.
” Im so happy to see that I have been short listed on the Tanzania’s best season lineup which is a foreign league not our league. It’s my first year and it’s my first season in the league but I have made it to be in their best eleven”.
” Its not my first time to be named on the lineup because I did it also in Kenya were I had a wonderful season so I appreciate God for giving me what I play for, giving me courage because it’s not something simple to be among the best in one country and then shift to another country and be among the best. Not also named on the best squad but also scoop some accolades in the season which is not easy but I think it’s through talent and hard work”. Batambuze added.
Shafik Batambuze adds on asserting that he always work to raise Uganda’s flag and it has been God’s will of achieving success abroad.
” I always work to raise my country’s flag so everything I do I just want to prove the best and make my country being recognized so I feel grateful whenever my national flag is raises high”.
” So my success has been through God’s will but accompanied by my efforts, self belief and hard work. It’s always good for me to be among the best, not even in the substitutes but on the team’s starting X1. I only request God to keep me alive so that I keep my flag high all the time” .
He joins another Ugandan forward playing for Simba Sports Club Emmanuel Okwi who also made it on the best season eleven finishing as the VPL top scorer.
