Sekajugo brace inspires Wakiso Giants over Proline

Striker Vianne Sekajugo scored a brace as Wakiso Giants edged Proline 2-1 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Sunday evening.

The former Onduparaka talisman scored in either half of the game inspiring the Purple Sharks back to winning ways at the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Bright Anukani had scored for Proline whose strike nearly salvaged a point for the guests but Sekajugo’s late penalty made it a consolation anyway.

Sekajugo put Wakiso Giants in the lead after seven minutes off a low drive that went past on-loan goalkeeper Bashir Sekajja and hit the back of the net.

Proline later came close to scoring but Bright Anukani and Bernard Muwanga failed to clinically finish in the box as their close-range efforts went wide.

In the 39th minute, Proline drew matters on the level when midfielder Anukani placed a ball past goalkeeper William Katende as the halftime report read 1-1.

After the break, the hosts made three changes when Duncan Senninde replaced Ivan Kiweewa and later Karim Ndugwa and Amos Muwonge came on for Hakim Senkumba and Emma Mutebi.

Also, Proline made three changes in the game when Joseph Mandela, Noordin Bunjo all came on to the pitch for Anukani, Sula Sekamwa, and Mukisa Yusuf.

In the 90th minute, center referee Ochom handed Wakiso Giants a soft penalty when Karim Ndugwa faked a foul in a ball challenge with defender Muwanga in the box.

Sekajugo stood up and calmly converted past Sekajja that marked the end of the game giving Wakiso Giants maximum points.

Wakiso Giants now went on 13 points after matchday nine while Proline remained pointless on the bottom of the 16-log.

Wakiso Giants younger and skipper Hassan Sennyonjo was named the man of the match taking home an accolade and One hundred thousand shillings.
