The FUFA Drum: Acholi holds Bukedi to storm semis

Acholi province reached the semi-finals of the 2019 FUFA Drum Tournament after holding Bukedi to a one all draw on Thursday evening.

Isaac Otto headed a late goal for Acholi province to counsel out Nsimbe Ibrahim’s early goal for Bukedi at the Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu.

Galkeeper Patrick Wafula was selected the man match after heroic saves that salvaged a point for Bukedi.

At the Akii Bua Stadium in Lira, Buganda province claimed the first victory in a new format after beating Tooro province 1-0 on the sunny evening.

Buganda had lost back it’s previous two games to Acholi (1-0) and against Bukedi 4-2 to bow out before their final game.

Paul Ssekulima netted the lone strike for Buganda while holding midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda was named man of the match, earning Shs 100,000 and a plaque.

The semi-finals will be played over two days, tomorrow (Saturday) and the finals will be played on Tuesday next week.
